"Heartear Island. A perfect utopia located in the far reaches of the reach of man. An uninhabited place that the company would give the world the next step. Many pharmaceutical companies exploited the resources that provided this island. They created cures for deadly diseases and thus prevented future pandemics, transnational soon would take popularity and its laboratories would spread around the world. But it seemed that people had forgotten the tragic events that occurred 17 years ago, the events where Raccoon City was the victim and took the lives of over 100,000 people. The main culprit, an experiment over the machinations of the Umbrella transnational: the T-Virus

Seven years have passed after the events of Resident Evil 6. The ravages of the C-Virus caused by Radames Carla were healed: the cure is supply everyone but world governments erased the existence of infected cities (Tail Oaks, Tatchi and Edonia). The awareness of the fight against bioterrorism has influenced widely, reaching considered a death penalty offense. The black market has been hidden, now only acting underground, their supplies are exhausted as they have lost the interest of the government groups.

Claire Redfield decided to use these years to find information about Zoe Silva, a former executive of Tricell and "contact" of the late Albert Wesker. Possibly, it is related to the experiments of the South Seas.

Tragedia features largerly similar gameplay from Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 5. The normal camera view is centered to the character, when aiming it turns to over-the-shoulder camera view. Gameplay focuses totally on "survival horror" from the early Resident Evil games, but having scents of "psychocologic horror" from Silent Hill series. The emphasis on saving the ammunition is absolutely essential and is very low in the early game focusing more on the use of edged weapons.

The inventory has been renewed, having a 40x10 space and enabling the storage of many weapons. However, the items also consume considerable space ,so have been distributed in several checkpoints new stores where you can save the remaining objects - with the proviso that these objects remain in the same checkpoint.
